The team at Portlaoise Dental are highly skilled in dental care. A close-knit group, we are dedicated to helping your with any dental problem you have. As a family-run practice, we strive to create a friendly, welcoming environment for patients of all ages.
Dentists
Keeping abreast of current thinking in dentistry is very important to us and all our dentists regularly attend courses and lectures to help keep skills and knowledge up-to-date.
Dr. Karen Cosgrove BDS (QUB) 2006
Dr Karen Cosgrove established Portlaoise Dental, with her husband David, in December 2010. Originally from Kilkeel, Co Down in the heart of the Mourne Mountains, she studied dentistry at Queens’ University, Belfast and graduated in 2006 with a distinction in the Practice of Dentistry.
Karen and David met at university and married in 2007. Together they have 4 busy children, 3 sons and a daughter. Outside of work Karen loves to cook and spend time with family and to get out walking in the Slieve Blooms when the sun shines!
Dr. David Cosgrove BDS (QUB) 2005
Dr David Cosgrove is one half of the husband-and-wife team behind Portlaoise Dental. A native of Belfast, he qualified as a dentist from Queens University, Belfast in 2005. He and Karen married in 2007 and worked in rural Scotland for five years before settling in Ireland in January 2010. David is a keen golfer and a member of Portarlington Golf Club.

Hygienist
Ms Martina Flavin
Martina is highly skilled dental hygienist who is passionate about oral health. She qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2001 and with over 20 years experience in her field she is an expert at what she does and will help you achieve healthy teeth and gums.
Receptionist
Collette Doocey
Collette works on reception and has been with Portlaoise Dental since 2013. She is often the first face you see or voice you hear when you contact us! Collette will usually be able to help with any queries you have regarding your appointment, so don’t be afraid to ask!

Dental Nurses
Christina Delaney
Originally from New Ross, Co Wexford, Christina is a fully qualified dental surgery assistant. She has been working with us since 2020.
Leah Kelly
Trainee Dental Nurse Leah joined the Portlaoise Dental team in January 2023.
Anna Gorman
Anna has been a member of the team at Portlaoise Dental since 2018. She is a very experienced, fully qualified dental nurse.
